Destination Learning celebrates the educational opportunities available in Tuscarawas County, Ohio for homeschool groups and traditional students. History sites come alive with hands-on experiences and students of all ages will love exploring our parks and trails.
Two National Historic Landmarks (The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and Historic Zoar Village) along with Ohio’s only Revolutionary War Fort (Fort Laurens) and the site of Ohio’s first church and school (Historic Schoenbrunn Village) showcases the significant contributions Tuscarawas County has made to Ohio history.
Our entertainment and fine arts scene challenges students to explore their creative side. Various classes and exhibits are available at the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts and stories come to life at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, the Ohio Star Theater, the Little Theater, or at Ohio’s oldest outdoor drama, Trumpet in the Land.
America’s 250th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to bring learning to life in Tuscarawas County. From immersive museums and historic sites to hands-on programs and outdoor experiences, our region offers countless ways to connect students with the stories that shaped our nation. The Tuscarawas County Historic Scavenger Hunt is an interactive way to learn our local history in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary! With 20 participating locations, you can spend the summer visiting exciting and historically significant attractions. To highlight the rich history of Tuscarawas County, the areas of focus span from before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, to the modern day!
To participate, download the form or pick up your copy of the Scavenger Hunt at the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center at 124 E High Ave, New Philadelphia. There will be random prizes drawn from completed and correct cards at the end of the summer. To submit your entry for the prize drawings, please return your copy to the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center by September 7th.
